Our IMO container washing facility is a new service offered by Katoen Natie Terminal TCP, the specialized container terminal of the Port of Montevideo. This service guarantees respect for the environment in the container washing process.
An IMO container washing facility is an area adequately conditioned to wash containers that have carried dangerous goods. The cleaning of the container is certified and the container is returned ready to reuse.
The facility is equipped for the cleaning and treatment of the resulting waste waters, guaranteeing the correct processing of the resulting effluents, in compliance with environmental regulations.
TCP is the only certified IMO washing facility in the country. Our personnel is trained on IMO container washing and wastewater treatment procedures. The operators of the IMO container washing facility are all members of the company’s quality, safety and environmental committee. They guarantee compliance with all environmental regulations to protect our natural assets.
