KATOEN NATIE CONTRIBUTED TO CAMPAIGN CARDIO SAFE URUGUAY DONATING A DEFIBRILLATOR TO THE ALAS ROJAS BABY SOCCER CLUB.
The defibrillator was delivered to the Club and the event was attended by the First Lady, Lorena Ponce de León, National Sports Secretary, Sebastián Bauzá and the Vice-Minister of Health, José Luis Satdjian, among other national authorities.
Katoen Natie Terminal Cuenca del Plata, operator of the specialized container terminal of the Port of Montevideo, donated a defibrillator to Alas Rojas Baby Soccer Club that will be available from now on at the soccer club, for its members as well as for other organizations and neighbors of the area.
The event was attended by the First Lady, Lorena Ponce de León, the National Sports Secretary, Sebastián Bauzá and the Sub-Minister of Health, José Luis Satdjian, representatives of ONG United to Help and authorities from the Honorary Commission for Cardiovascular Health.
Bauzá told the public that when the current government took office, they found that many baby soccer clubs, as well as sport plazas and soccer clubs in the country did not have defibrillators. That makes this donation from Katoen Natie to the Alas Rojas Club very important, not only to the club itself, but also to the community, so we are very satisfied, he said.
The First Lady, in turn, spoke about the importance of baby soccer as a means for teaching, educating and transmitting values. It is very important that these organizations have their own defibrillators and teach many people how to use them in emergencies, she said.
“Katoen Natie is very proud to have helped maintain the Alas Rojas Club soccer field, so that the children can practice their sport. Private companies are involved with the community and we understand that if we all cooperate for a greater good, which is no more and no less than the health of our people, everybody will take a step forward”, said Loli.
Then Mr. Vincent Vandecauter, General Manager of Katoen Natie Terminal Cuenca del Plata, said that this donation means a lot. Our company has a corporate plan of social responsibility; Alas Rojas is one of our projects, and today it is a pleasure for us to be here delivering this defibrillator. It’s a very nice day for us.
The donation of this defibrillator, which include pediatric connectors, was part of the Katoen Natie community program, through which the company carries out its Corporate Social Responsibility activities supporting different initiatives, with emphasis on the neighborhood and community.
